Basketball!

Setting up the scene ... Maecie and I are in the living room, working on cleaning up each toy she pulls out. Clayton comes running down the hallway from his room, so very excited. He received a Nerf basketball set for Christmas and has been working on making a goal ever since. He runs up to me and says, "mom, you want to come see my basketball? I can do it!" Of course I say yes and off I go to watch my inventive son make a goal.

Notice how he is using a chair and getting very close to the goal...

Okay mom, are you ready for this one??

The reel back....
The SCORE! (as it goes up the net, and then back down again!)

First Shoes

Maecie received her first pair of shoes yesterday. After weighing the many pros and cons to having a Stride Rite baby, I hit the middle and went to the Stride Rite Outlet. The need for good, supportive shoes for a child learning to walk versus a good, supportive wallet to support the family has been a huge issue as I prepared for this moment. On one hand, shoes made for first walkers, that won't break apart in a month, and that look cute are hard to find. But forking out $40-$50 for a pair of shoes they are bound to outgrow in 3 months is EXPENSIVE!
I tried many different avenues for Clayton over the years. Suprisingly, his feet do not grow very fast. We manage to stay in the same shoes for an entire season, and then some. And being the boisterous boy he is, shoes will fall into pieces in no time at all. Therefore, we have stuck with Stride Rite, but only purchasing either at an outlet or on sale. And have had the luxury of having cousins nearby that can pass hand-me-downs our way.
So we will start with Stride Rite and see where the shoe road leads us. In the mean time, here are pics of her adorable shoes!!

The adorable, and yes, of course, pink shoes!

Here, the shoes are fitted onto the cutest, chubby feet you ever did see!

The Fun Times!

Just some cute pictures!
"Want to play with this really cool toy?! "

"See, you just shake it like this and people clap for you!"

"I make these legs look good!" .... Anyone else just want to eat these knees?!

Practicing for the family business ... "Beare Heating and Air, can I fix your air conditioner?"

Too cute for words!

Snow Day

A snow day for us only means that Dad stayed home and we got to play in a different way! It was gorgeous to look at and even fun to play in! Clayton made his first sledding trip!

Our house in a Winter Wonderland.

Daddy and Clayton sledding down the big hill.

Mommy and Clayton making the trek back up the sledding hill! It didn't take long before Clayton said he wanted to do it by himself!

See....all by himself! That kid has no fear!

And Maecie napped through the majority of the fun ... which was good cause it was cold!

But she made her appearance a little later on, just before time to leave.
All in all, it was a good day!

Charleston!!!

So when the hubby asked what I would like for Christmas, I actually took some time and made a careful decision. My answer? A vacation! And not just any vacation. I wanted him to plan it, him to decide what to do the with kids (cause they weren't going!), and him to plan what we did while on vacation! My result? A fabulous trip to Charleston!

We stayed for three days and two nights in downtown Charleston, SC. We stayed at the Charleston Place Hotel, a much more posh hotel than either of us had ever stayed before. We ate great food, toured only an inch of it's most beautiful and historic sites, and even had massages! See what happens when the spouse plans?!

Even though I grew up only a couple hours from there, I had not toured our experienced much of it's amazing beauty and history! I didn't get a chance to take as many pictures as I would have liked, but I don't think this will be our last trip!

Me in front of our hotel ... see the large horse statues and fountain??

Fort Sumter from the harbor....

Fancy Dinner Night ... all dressed up and went to the Charleston Grill!
A close-up of St. John's Cathedral. I loved the intricate brick design!

New Years Celebrations

We were so fortunate to spend New Years Eve with some of our closest friends, playing games, eating food, and watching fireworks!

Maecie in her "too cute to bear" shirt! Ready for the party!

"Can we shoot fireworks now?"

The Midnight Festivities! Even the kids managed to stay awake!

Christmas ... a little late!

This was a fun, yet busy Christmas for us! Here are some highlights...

A visit with Santa, where Maecie is checking out the beard and Clayton is checking out the presents!

Clayton and his "really fast golf cart"!

Maecie and her play table!
